Days 18-21 Buenos Aires (28 to 1st December)

Next morning we wake up a little bit later, we had breakfast and we did the online check in (we forgot that they've changed our flight so we had less time to visit other places). So we went to the border again, but this time we stopped to the Brazilian side to have the exit stamp and again to the Argentina side to get the entrance. Then we went to the Argentina side to book a car for us to go to the airport because there are no local buses that goes there.

The airport was under constructions and was really really small. There was only one door to go the the gate 1 and 2 where you can't cross until they call your flight. We saw a lot of people lining up to do the check in and we just went inside the bar waiting for our flight. Once they call our flight number, we went to this door and we saw all the people already lining up. It was crazy, the line was going around all the terminal hall so for the first time I lined up like everybody, been nice and polite. On this crazy moment I hear a catalan couple going to our same flight going back to the line. I said to them, hello! long time without hearing catalan! please come here with us, don't need to go at the back of the line! They looked at me very happy and we started chatting about the bad organisation of this airport. When we were almost there in the passport control, we saw a lot of people trying to skip the queue. Oh no, not in front of me. So I just went to talk with one of the workers there and they asked me to pass in front of the others because my flight was about to leave. So we pass in front of the others, the police didn't really checked our passports and boarding passes because they were really busy trying to stop the people and they didn't really care about what was inside our backpacks or how many liquids I had in my bag... After all, the flight was good, we slept all the time and we missed the free drinks that they provide in the plane.

Once in Buenos Aires, we texted Alejandro, a Esteve friend that worked with him in Barcelona, when he was in Motocard, because he came to pick us up. Waiting for him, we went to get a sim card where a woman started talking to me in Portuguese because I was wearing a t-shirt with the Brazilian flag xD
With the sim card ready, Alejandro found us and received us with a big hug! We took the car and we went to meet our new host Fernando.
On the way Alejandro told us that he has 2 kids now, and we talked about our lives and our friends in common.

We arrived to Fernando's house where he received us with a great welcome, he showed us our bed and how everything works. After a long chat we decided to meet with Alejandro and his family for dinner. We went to McDonald's because was easy to have the children there playing while we were chatting and eating. They invited us to their son 5th birthday that will be on Saturday. It was a long day so we went to sleep after that to rest.

Next morning we decided to go to the city centre because on Friday and Saturday will be no trains and buses there due to the G20 summit. Fernando went to work and then we went to a nice bakery for breakfast and we order 2 different things with dulce de leche inside and another one to share between us. With the drinks they give us for free more pastries so we had a lot of food in front of us!! please see the picture!!

After the heavy breakfast we took the train and we went to Retiro, the last stop in the centre. From there we visited Plaza Catalunya, a small square where you can see a replica of the Canaletes fountain and a statue of Lluis Companys. We continued walking along Avenida 9 de Julio, the broadest avenue in the world, until we arrived to the Obelisco. Then we wandered around San Nicolas area looking for a present for Alejandro's son, that his birthday was on Saturday so we bought him a super hero t-shirt.

As per Fernando's recommendation, we went to Pizzeria Guerrin, where they cook the best pizzas in the world (according to Argentinians...). We ordered just a couple of pizza slices each as they were huge and a portion of cake with dulce de leche which was even bigger. With our stomaches full we headed to Plaza de Mayo and entered the Catedral Metropolitana. Then we saw some security guys there and we went to see why. Then we saw the South Korea first lady. We went really close to her and we asked to take a picture with her. She was really nice and she said enjoy your trip and we wish her a nice stay in Argentina. After that we got close to the Pink house, but it was closed due to the G20 (as many other attractions in the city).

We decided to move a little bit away from the city centre as they were starting to close streets, so we went to San Telmo. There we saw Paseo de la Historieta where there is a statue of Mafalda amongst other comic characters and an antiques market. After that we went back to Retiro station to get back to our accommodation. Just before arriving at the station we saw many Chinese people with huge flags waiting for his president to arrive at his hotel. It was very weird as all of them were dressing the same and coming from the same coaches. A local policemen told us that they get their trip paid just to welcome the Chinese president.

Next morning Esteve waked up early and went to buy something for breakfast and came with a lot of croissants (called facturas in Argentinian) with sugar and some with chocolate. Because the G20 started here in Buenos Aires, everything was closed so we decided to spend all day long in the house, working a little bit, resting, enjoying the weather and updating our blog. For dinner we went out with Fernando around Villa Ballester. We went to a brewery where you can order crafted beer and also nice food.

On Saturday, Fernando's parents arrived from a trip in Republica Dominicana, so we met them and chat with them about their experience while we had lunch together. After that we got a bus to Alejandro's house to celebrate his son's birthday. When we arrived to the party it was a chaos, there was children running and jumping all around the house. There was an inflatable castle and a trampoline and there were many Super Mario Bros decorations. We stayed until late playing with Alejandro's children and around 9pm he gave us a lift back to our accommodation.
