North of Argentina: Jujuy - 6th to 9th December (Days 25 to 28)

On Thursday, when we woke up, breakfast was ready again thanks to Hugo's mom. We rented a car for 3 days at the agency FIT Car Rental, which was next to the central square of Salta. We were warned that the roads around Jujuy are very bumpy and rocks can hit the windows of the cars, so we chose the full insurance option. Our initial idea was to leave Salta in the morning and have lunch around San Salvador de Jujuy, but it was getting late and Hugo's mom convinced us to stay for lunch, cooking a nice pizza for us.

North of Argentina: Salta - 4th and 5th December (Days 23 and 24)

After breakfast at the hostel, we went to explore the town looking for the free wine tour. We found the Bodega Vasija Escondida where they show us how the wine is produced and after we could try different wines for free. With the stomach full of wine, we went to the cheese factory and in the way there a 4x4 vehicle stopped and let us go on the back of the vehicle. When we arrived at the factory it was closed but we tried different kinds of cheese anyway and went to see the sheep. We went back to the village with the same vehicle.

North of Argentina: Tucuman - 2 and 3 December (Days 21 and 22)

On Sunday, we woke up at 4.30am and Alejandro drove us to the airport. It was so early that there was no traffic at all. Around 7am our flight to San Miguel de Tucuman departed. When we arrived at Tucuman airport, many taxi drivers came to us offering a ride to the city. There was no bus option, so we decided to wait for more people to share the taxi. After a while waiting and many taxi drivers telling us that no one would come to share it, we met Yani, an argentinian girl who also wanted a ride to the city's terminal, so we went together for a much better price. We had breakfast in the terminal and got a bus to Tafí del Valle, which was a 3 hour ride from San Miguel.

Days 18-21 Buenos Aires (28 to 1st December)

Next morning we wake up a little bit later, we had breakfast and we did the online check in (we forgot that they've changed our flight so we had less time to visit other places). So we went to the border again, but this time we stopped to the Brazilian side to have the exit stamp and again to the Argentina side to get the entrance. Then we went to the Argentina side to book a car for us to go to the airport because there are no local buses that goes there.

Day 15-17 Cataratas de Iguazu (26 to 28 November)

We woke up early to take our flight from São Paulo to Foz do Iguaçu. The flight was fine, we had a screen in front of our seat so we could watch a tv serie. I chose to start watching Gotham and Esteve was playing all the time with different games from the screen.

Day 13-14 São Paulo (24 to 25 November)

On Saturday we woke up late and after trying the bolo de cenoura for breakfast (the Brazilian carrot cake that is surprisingly better than the British one) we went to explore the city with Yasmin and Joan. Firstly we walked to the Ibirapuera park, which was very close to their house. It is a huge open space with a couple of nice lake that local people use to practise many different sports and get away from the stress of the city.

Days 10-12 (21 to 23 November)

We wake up really early on Wednesday and the day was cloudy so we decided to do some trekking around the island. First we went to a bakery shop to have some breakfast and also we bought some bread and cheese to make sandwiches for our trip. Ilha Grande is a nice island because there are no motor vehicles there, so it was a really relaxing place.

Days 8-9 (19 and 20 November)

On Monday we went to the beaches in Búzios (Geriba, Ferradurinha). We like to walk so we took our day pack and we went to explore the beaches. The water was really cold so we just walk along the beaches, walking trough the little streets and enjoying the sun.

Days 6-7 (17 and 18 November)

On Saturday we went to the botanic garden, which is a huge and beautiful park where we spent all morning walking around. The entrance fee is 15 reais per person but it is worth a visit. We were amazed by the bamboo forests and the orchids. After the garden we walk to the Lagoa Rodrigues de Freitas where we got a bus and then an Uber to the coach station.

The first five days of our trip around the world! (Oporto and Rio de Janeiro)

Finally after so long our trip around the world has started! It was a big challenge to fit everything we need for a full year travelling into a backpack, but we managed to put everything with a weight under 8kg each! Ari is very good at packing and now that she learned a new technique to pack everything divided in small bags (thanks Sharon for the advice), she ended up preparing the backpacks for both of us. That's perfect because I'm terrible at packing.

Ephesus, Kusadasi and Pamukkale

On Friday we left Istanbul and flew to our next destination, Izmir. It's a big city in the Aegean sea coast where we spent a night with our new friend Alp, who kindly host us and even cooked dinner for us!

Istanbul museums and mosques

We spent the last few days in Istanbul visiting some museums and mosques. We went to the Archaeology museum, Technology museum, Museum of Turkish and Islamic Arts, Hagia Sofia mosque... 

Our first two days in Turkey

We arrived on Friday night to Istanbul for our pre-trip around the world, where we will spend 6 nights. The first thing that shocked me from Turkish people is their hospitality and will to help foreigners. Just in these two days we've met many people and even got invited to the house of a group of students while we were waiting for our host to take us to our accommodation. We have also met Muhammed and Muhas, who have been kindly guiding us around the city.

We are flying to Istanbul today! Our flight is delayed due to bad weather conditions...but we have the perfect solution for the waiting...
